If you have been thinking about adopting a pet, join us on May 1st and 2nd from 10 AM to 9 PM each day for our 2nd Annual Adopt-A-Thon!
Last year we found homes for more than 50 pets in 30 hours. With extended adoption hours, we need your help to find homes for 66 (or more) pets in 22 hours!

Are you a member of the GBHS Black Dog Club? Do you own a black dog? If you answered "yes" to either of these, then we invite you and your black dog(s) to join us for the first annual Black Dog Club Bash!
The Black Dog Club (BDC) Bash will be held at the GBHS from 6 PM to 9 PM on Friday, May 1st.

With more than 148 entries, we are confident some will simply steal your heart. The photos that receive the most on-line votes will be on display at Brookwood Mall from May 24th through May 30th to determine the top 13 photos for the 2010 calendar!
On-line votes are free. Voting at Brookwood Mall will be $1.00 per vote. Let the voting begin!

Warm Weather Child & Pet Safety |

Every spring and summer the GBHS and police receive a multitude of calls regarding children and pets left in unattended automobiles. We urge you to help us raise awareness regarding the danger of such actions. Share the following word of caution with fellow parents and pet owners.
Until the community understands the danger in their actions, each one of us must know when and how be a good samaritan for those who cannot speak for themselves. Learn more...

Do Dah Day 2009 is Around the Corner!

We hope you'll join us for the 30th year of Do Dah Day, one of Birmingham's best-loved events! This year's festival is set for Saturday, May 16th, 2009 in Caldwell and Rhodes parks, but don't miss out on the kickoff of the festivities at Do Dah Eve on Friday night!
