Rudy...The World's Sweetest Dog |
|
On July 15th, we received the following adoption story from Carolyn M. through our website.
"Rudy was adopted from the former Tailwagger at Eastwood Mall back in 1996. She was absolutely the cutest puppy you have ever seen. Fat, fluffy, bright eyed.. she was a dream come true. Not long after we adopted Rudy she began to show signs of illness. First they thought it was Parvo then Distemper. After many trips back and forth to Riverview Animal Clinic and several stays in isolation, she became a healthy and happy puppy once again.
I have often said that Rudy knew a lot about horseback riding... Dressage and jumping.. because she never missed a lesson of mine. She would loyally lay close until my lesson was finished. She traveled many a mile with me both on foot and in my truck. She was the perfect travel companion as she never needed a leash because she always stayed so close to me and "stayed" when asked. I also can describe Rudy as a dog who truly never did anything wrong. I can not remember any house training issues, she always came when called, got along well with ALL animals, and loved children. A close friend of mine nick named her "Smily" because she said Rudy always had a smile on her face...and that she did!
Earlier this year, after a short bout with bone cancer, I had Rudy put to sleep. My vet, Dr. Arthur Serwitz, sent me the kindest note shortly after. He said, "you made the right decision... you have offered Rudy a final act of love and kindness...she loved and trusted just as you love and trusted her".
I still feel an emptiness when I think of Rudy yet I thank God that he brought such a special animal into my life. And I am forever grateful to the Greater B'ham Humane Society for providing me with this wonderful animal... truly, the world's sweetest dog!!"
