Sam goes to England!
I was tired of jumping up and performing the "take me home!" routine. I ignored them, played with a toy, and peed all over the floor. They adopted me anyway.
It was late December 2007, I was tired of jumping up and performing the "take me home!" routine, when they saw my half blue/half brown eye they thought I was blind in one eye or something and walked on. So I lay down, curled up, and ignored everyone. I was called Tad then, and I was a six month old mixed yellow lab dog.
They came back again, Jo and Tom, she I understood, he had a funny voice, turned out he was British. We all met up in the meet and greet room; I ignored them, played with a toy, and peed all over the floor. They adopted me anyway. The first three months didn't seem to please them; I marked every piece of furniture and floor space to show that I lived there and one Sunday managed to deposit about a gallon on each of the beds, they were not amused. Tom took me out for what he described as the "last walk" and told me I was going back to GBHS the following day, he cried when he said that, sad to see your friends cry. He changed his mind by the next morning so I stopped doing it from that day.
For the most part we lived on the third floor of a nice old condo on Highland, I got to walk in the parks and look out of the window at the squirrels on the window sill outside, I hate squirrels! After a couple of quick succession moves we ended up in Altamont Patios and things became a little odd. Boxes came and went, we visited the veterinarian several times, plastic kennels appeared for my friend Tater(a dog) and Baloo (a cat). Then one morning we were loaded into an SUV and we all went to Atlanta airport, apparently we were going to England!!!
And that is where I am now, living on a 57 foot canal boat, seeing, smelling and hearing the English countryside from the canals. Every time we stop there are new faces to see, dogs to meet, ducks and swans to chase, fields to run in, places to leave my mark! It was a long journey, flying for a dog is very stressful, and the country, when we arrived in February this year was very cold, and the accents are very different. Oh, and one more thing I'm now called Sam, I have a passport of my own and can travel the world if I want. It's been a long journey from Birmingham Alabama, but the mixed lab made it!
