General Volunteer Information: - Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years.
- Must be able and willing to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per month.
- Must have a love for animals and be committed to the mission of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, which means you will be "dedicated to promoting respect for life through education and prevention of cruelty to animals and people".
- Available Opportunities
- Getting Started:
- Complete our Volunteer Application!
- We will contact you to schedule you for an upcoming volunteer orientation
- Additional training classes may be required before helping in specific areas
Court Ordered Community Service Information:
- Must be at least 18 years.
- Must provide:
- Photo ID
- Letter from court system mandating service hours
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be physically active during your hours of service
- Must be able to work during normal GBHS operating hours
- Monday through Saturday: 8 AM to 5 PM
- Sunday 9:30 AM to 5 PM
- Should be comfortable working around all sizes and breeds of dogs, cats, and small animals
